About Me
With an extensive professional history in engineering and management, fifth-term lawmaker Tom Creighton is well prepared to face the challenge of representing the 37th Legislative District.  He was elected as state representative on a platform of farm and watershed preservation, excellence in education, tax reform and the rights of the unborn.

Born in Altoona, Blair County, Creighton was raised in western Pennsylvania and graduated from Altoona Senior High School in 1963.  He earned a Bachelor of Science in physics from Juniata College in 1967 and a Master of Science in physics/math from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1970.

Creighton’s professional background spans several careers and has provided him with extensive experience in local government, small business, industry, personnel and union management, and teaching on a secondary and graduate level.  He also has gained close ties to the agricultural community through his efforts in farm preservation and in raising his own crops and animals.

Prior to his election, Creighton served as a Rapho Township supervisor and a computer network consultant.

Creighton’s previous positions include plant engineer/manager for Kellogg’s; research analyst for the National Bureau of Standards, Fire Engineering; research scientist for Armstrong World Industries; college instructor at Indiana University of Pennsylvania; and science teacher in the Altoona School District.

A resident of Manheim for the past 32 years, Creighton has become deeply involved in, and dedicated to, his community.  He formed the Chickies Watershed Alliance with the goal of preserving stream ecology and water quality in the region drained by the Chickies and Little Chickies creeks. Creighton was a Meals-on-Wheels volunteer and has also been a 4-H leader.

He also served as the Judge of Elections for Union Square for 10 years, was a member of the School Board for the Manheim Christian Day School and served as president of the Manheim Rotary.

Creighton currently serves as chairman of the House Local Government Committee and also serves as a member of the House Judiciary Committee.

The 37th district includes the townships of Clay, East Cocalico, West Cocalico, Elizabeth, Mount Joy, Penn and Rapho and the boroughs of Denver, Adamstown and Manheim.

Creighton and his wife, Sandy, reside in Rapho Township, Lancaster County. They have three children and three grandchildren.
